If you have not yet reached retirement age and don’t have a ton of free time on your hands but you would like to make more time in your life, there are definitely things you can do to make that happen. Of course, if you really want to find the time to read as much as you’d like to, it is going to require you to make a few changes in your day-to-day life. If you’re curious about what these things are, read on. Here are 4 small changes you can make in your life in order to start reading more!

Wake Up Earlier

Many readers prefer to read first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and before they start their day. Waking up even just 20 minutes earlier than you need to each day is a great way to add some extra reading time into your schedule. Wake up, set a timer, read your book, and then once the timer goes off resume your regular morning routine. Even if this is the only time you get to read, you will be able to finish books much more quickly than you were able to before.

Set Reading Goals

Setting reading goals is another great way to challenge yourself to read more. This way, when you are considering watching a television show you may notice the book sitting on your coffee table or nightstand and decide to read a few chapters instead.

Take Advantage Of Your Lunch Break

Some people work quite a bit and therefore don’t have enough time to devote to reading all the books they want to. If this sounds like you, consider using your breaks at work to read! Bring a book with you to work each day and pull it out of your bag when you go on your break. You will be shocked at how many books you’ll be able to finish in just a short period of time. Just make sure you leave yourself enough time to eat your lunch too!

Carry A Book With You Everywhere

Carrying a book with you wherever you go will help you to ensure that you are able to read if the opportunity strikes. For example, if your bus ride is longer than expected you end up having to wait in a long line at some point during your day, you can use this time to read!

Reading more books is a great ambition and it’s definitely not impossible no matter how little free time you have! Simply make a few changes to your lifestyle and you will notice that you are getting through your “to be read” pile quite swiftly!
